How Much Money I Made On YouTube in 2020

2020 was the year of trying new things for many people, and I was definitely one of them. While I’ve always had a desire to do YouTube, and I’ve actually created multiple channels in the past, 2020 was the year that I put the most effort into it, and it’s starting to pay off.

I started out 2020, even before the pandemic, with the desire to make a new YouTube channel, and that’s exactly what I did. I basically just started talking about the stock market and how I had success in the previous year, even when I was dealt a tough hand. I would get questions on my approach pretty frequently, so this was my attempt to show anybody who was interested.

Without going into too much detail, my channel gained some traction in the spring, and I decided to split my channel into two different ones to cater to different audiences. The new channel that I made was more focused on individual stocks, and the original shifted towards beginning investing ideas. Over time, I realized I preferred the new channel I created, so I stopped posting to the other one, and put my energy into talking exclusively about stocks.

I was able to monetize my channel in July after about 6 months of posting videos in total. The requirement to get monetized was to get 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time, and I think I achieved both around the same time, towards the end of June or early July.
